"Weight loss" as the leading solution for managing our
body's size that has led us down an endless road to nowhere. Along the way, we repeatedly emptied our pockets hoping that
the latest fad diet would somehow make life easier. However, according to the article "People on a diet are
fattening in the long run," two thirds of dieters regain lost weight and more within
four to five years. Sounds like a
bad trip, do not you think?
What if we shifted our attention to preventing weight gain, which
makes us turn to ineffective weight loss in Philadelphia methods
in the first place? It is obvious that we need a new way
of thinking and acting to work effectively with our bodies.
A new research study, sponsored by the National Institutes of
Health (NIH), focuses on helping youth avoid 18-35 years earning an average of
over 30 kilos over a span of 15 years. The Study of
New Approaches to Prevention Program (SNAP) efforts to teach young adults
strategies that will help them adopt healthier lifestyles and prevent weight
gain that normally occurs in this age group. Multiple studies, which are free for participants, are being
conducted around the US, including a UNC-Chapel Hill study in the
Triangle.Unfortunately, diet tactics are still used as one of the strategies in
this study.
At present, we are a society of people who go through abrupt changes of
overeating and undermoving, which then receive
over compensation for crazy experiments with undereating (ie, diet) and overmoving (exercise
ie strenuous). Although more and more people
recognize that diets do not really work, we continue to use food restriction as
the predominant method in attempts to experience optimum health and to release
excess weight (ie, weight loss).
You can do "lose weight" and "diet" history in
your life, while avoiding weight gain! Intuitive
Eating offers a handy set of ongoing strategies to help people of all ages
focus on prevention rather than going through the pains of intervention for medical
weight loss in Philadelphia. Eating intuitively can help anyone
embrace a "No Gain. No Pain." Mentality. What does "No Gain" mean. This means that if each of us puts our energies towards the
recognition and elimination of those habits that are causing us to gain weight
throughout our daily lives, then we are not going to have to go through the
pain of diet and exercise vigorous!
If you are ready to go beyond our collective habits of overeating
and undermoving, followed by undereating and overmoving, then here are 5 ways to help you create
some effective weight-loss habits:
1) Decide or believe that it is possible to maintain a stable weight. For years, we have read and heard other people's fears about
how much harder it is not to put on pounds as we age. It's almost as if people are resigning themselves to the fate
of weight gain. Use your life as a new
experiment and a new experience. The body
has natural and intelligent mechanisms to maintain the weight stabilized. In fact, there are scientific articles that show that the
body has the ability to recognize the amount of calories in food. So, as long as we commit to supporting those mechanisms by
eating and moving what our body needs, we can be confident in being able to
experience a natural healthy body weight.
2) Embrace the fact that your body needs to
move regularly. Kick "exercise" to the
curb, if you do not like it, and experiment with ways your body loves to move:
dance, walk, jump rope, throw a ball, play a sport, find a set of movement
practices that are willing to do constantly. For more information on this, read: Intuitive Eating Your Way
to a Love Story Movement.
3) The practice of eating intuitively. Learn and respect your true signs of biological hunger and
satiety. Respond to your body when you
grunt your stomach and discover the point at which you are satisfied. Have the eating to the point of "stuffing" into a
habit of the past.
4) Feel the difference that all nutrition does. Even though the candy bars can give you an increase in
energy, you probably have experienced the shock afterwards. In addition, when you take the time to taste and savor high
sugar and processed foods, therefore, higher calories, you may be surprised by
the fact that you naturally eat less of them. A fresh orange or crispy apple can give you the same, if not
more pleasure, than the taste of processed foods and your body will have a
better time too!
5) Learn to live your life without using food to cope with your
emotions. Create your own personal care plan
(ie, your own emergency escape route) from the most skilled alternatives to
calm yourself, when you want to reach the food to calm down after stress or a
long day or to get it through boredom, anxiety, or anger.
Each of these five tips will help you find the most optimal way to
care for and love your unique body. Did you know that the National Love
Your Body Day is this Saturday, October 23, 2010? Celebrate with us by attending Total Health & Happiness
Seminar in Raleigh.
